With a background rooted in creative writing and a fascination with human psychology, Kayt Molina brings a unique perspective to the technical world of digital marketing. As Digital Director, Kayt discusses how a lifelong love of words led her to digital strategy and why she finds the “hidden” nuances of every client’s business so compelling.
Q. How would you describe your younger self, and how did those early interests lead you into marketing?
I was the quintessential “bookworm.” English and creative writing were my world; I actually grew up wanting to be an author. I’ve always been someone who loves words and storytelling. That natural curiosity has been the biggest driver in my career.
I love learning how things work, why people make the choices they do, and how they engage with the world. Marketing is really just the intersection of storytelling and human psychology. I get to dive into a client’s world, understand the nuances of their business, and help people perceive them the way they deserve to be seen.
Q. You’ve mentioned before that you didn’t necessarily pursue a career in marketing—it pursued you. Can you tell us about that journey?
It really came down to being willing to help people and saying “yes” to different challenges as they came my way. I started out planning events and creating promotional materials, but I quickly got into websites and blogging. Before AI existed, I was ghostwriting upwards of 10,000 words a week for agencies, producing ebooks, and writing articles on every topic imaginable. That evolved into working for agencies where I learned how to build websites, run email campaigns, and manage social media for a variety of brands. From there, I expanded into the more technical side: local and national SEO strategy, analytics, and tracking. Being at Verve is the culmination of all those pieces coming together.
Q. You’ve worked with a lot of businesses in the home services sector. What draws you to that industry?
At a previous agency, I worked with a lot of HVAC, plumbing, and remodeling companies, and I realized I genuinely enjoy working with those types of business owners. They are incredibly scrappy and entrepreneurial, much like I am. They are total experts in the field, and I get to be the digital expert who helps them grow their business and bring in more leads.
I’m also very passionate about client education. I love showing an owner what is—and isn’t—working on their site compared to their competitors. We get into the minds of their customers to find out how they’re searching and what they need to see to make that first call.
Q. How do you see the future of marketing shifting with the rise of AI?
I love being on the forefront of new tech, but I also recognize its limitations. There is simply no replacement for a full-service agency like Verve that is full of seasoned professionals with decades of experience across countless industries.
We’re seeing a shift from traditional SEO toward “GEO”—Generative Engine Optimization—and Verve is staying ahead of that curve. We’re anticipating where search and AI discovery are going so our clients don’t have to. AI is a great tool for handling repetitive tasks or ideation, but the strategy, the artistry of crafting content that actually resonates, and the ‘human’ element of understanding a brand’s soul are things you can’t automate.
Great content isn’t about stuffing a page with keywords — it’s about creating resources people actually want to read, pages that answer real questions and build real trust. That’s what drives results. Keeping our clients up to speed and ahead of the competition is one of the things I love most about being here.
Q. What is most rewarding to you about the work you do at Verve?
It’s definitely the connection between the creative and the results. I love the variety—that no two days are the same and there is always something new to learn. But ultimately, it’s about helping organizations share their stories and grow. Seeing a strategy come to life and watching a business succeed because of the work we’ve done is incredibly fulfilling.
