THOMAS NELSON: Complete brand refresh and new website information architecture helps visitors find the right product and purchase


Client and Challenge

Thomas Nelson Bibles is the world’s largest Bible publisher. The client sought to completely redesign the website with a new look and new content organization to capture how consumers think about Bible purchases.

What We Did

Verve created a custom WordPress theme with a new modern yet neutral look consistent with a breadth of brands from KJV to the NET. Lifestyle and “product in use” photography was used extensively throughout the site to help visitors “experience” Bibles virtually.

Thomas Nelson Bibles Website design-screens w trophyMost important, rather than a traditional ecommerce site, the site infrastructure allows visitors to easily narrow down selections based on the common and yet diverse ways that buyers approach a new Bible purchase. This may be first in terms of translation or by type, such as Study Bible, Reference Bible, or Leather Bible. The theme is programmed so that new Individual Bible product pages can be created easily along with all cover options so visitors can compare binding and color choices all in one place. Unique functions of this WordPress theme include automatic deletion of products that become no longer available and auto creation of online retailer “buy” links.

Verve Marketing Group was awarded the highest honor, the Award of Excellence, in the 27th Annual Communicator Awards competition for design and development of this site.
